Distillery Unit - I
LOCATION: BHAVANI, TAMILNADU
HISTORY OF THE FACTORY :
The first distillery unit of M/s.Bannari Amman Sugars Limited is situated
in Sinnapuliyur Village, Bhavani Taluk, Erode District, Tamil Nadu. It
manufactures Industrial grade Alcohol from sugarcane molasses. This
distillery unit was established in the year 1978 in the name of
M/s.Coimbatore Alcohol and Chemicals Private Limited and later it was
amalgamated with M/s.Bannari Amman Sugars Limited from 1995.
The production capacity of the unit is 20.25 million Litres of Alcohol per
Annum @ 67.50 KL per Day. In this distillery unit, the old atmospheric
distillation columns are replaced with new multi pressure distillation
columns for achieving thermal efficiency and improved product quality.
The new Multi pressure distillation plant is installed and commissioned
in the year 2022.
The distillery has set up Bio methanation system (biogas digester) with
the help of technical know-how from France for treating the spent wash
which meets the strict pollution control measures to protect
environment. There are two biogas digester plants are installed in the
unit. First one was installed in the year 1989 and the second one was
installed in the year 2001. The Biogas evolved during the treatment of
spent wash is being used in the boiler as an alternative fuel in place of
fossil fuel.
For achieving Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD), the distillery has installed
R.O. System in the year 2016. The biomethanated spent wash is further
treated in Reverse Osmosis (R.O.) system. In this R.O. system, the final
spent wash volume is reduced to 40% level and the re-useable water is
recovered to 60% level. The re-usable water (RO Permeate) is reused
back in the process and the final spent wash (RO Reject) is completely
utilized in bio composting. By this, the Unit is achieving Zero Liquid
Discharge (ZLD) as per Pollution Control Board norms.
As a part of utilizing the natural source of energy, the distillery has
commissioned 100 KW Solar Power (Green Energy) Plant in the year
2013. Also, the distillery has installed 172 kW Turbo Generator in the
year 2012. It generates power by using the excess steam generated
through biogas.
This reflects the company's growing concern for the environment and
the need to find suitable alternatives.
Distillery Unit - II
LOCATION : NANJANGUD
HISTORY OF THE FACTORY :
The capacity of the Distillery Plant has been expanded to 150-KLPD
(ENA/Ethanol) in the year 2021 with the expansion of Spent wash
Concentration & Incineration Plant to 46.8 TPH along with Waste Water
Recycling Plant & Reverse Osmosis Plant to achieve Zero Liquid
Discharge.
In order to achieve Zero Liquid Discharge in the Distillery Plant, the Unit
has established Spent wash Concentration and Incineration Plant in the
year 2007 to utilize the concentrated spent wash of the Distillery plant
as a fuel in the Boiler. Many Distilleries visited the plant and envisaged
the use of this Incineration Plant and adopted the same technology in
their Distilleries also.
The Co2 plant has been installed in the Distillery premises in the year
2018 (as per ISBT Standards & Norms) with a capacity of 25 MT/Day to
trap the vented out Raw Co2 Gas generated from the Fermentation
process and the liquefied Co2 is being sold to the outside agencies.
